CONVERGENCE SOLO SHOW 2026
Convergence is a solo exhibition of paintings and monotype prints depicting Bridget Seaton’s intimate experiences of the South West’s woodlands, coastal habitats, wetlands and forests. The work has arisen from an immersion in landscape, observing seasonal changes both subtle and dramatic, positive and negative. Some works were made in response to the brutally dry summer of 2024 examining physical changes that drought inflicts on landscape as well as personal feelings of grief that arose. Despite this the exhibition is a celebration of our natural environment, its resilience and ability to heal itself, depicting hope and an appreciation of the respite that the cooler months offer the land.
Seaton’s work examines the South West from a migrants’ eyes viewing the land with a sense of wonder and incredulity. Natural forms are celebrated through expressive brushwork and colour, tree forms feature prominently evoking a feeling of being deeply immersed, drawing inspiration from the many studies she makes when out in the field. Her work addresses life and death in the landscape, not shying away from scarification of drought and natural cycles, she paints spent vegetation as well as the reshoots of hope.
