This work explores my response to the brutally dry summer of 2024 documenting the collapse of certain plant communities and the hostility of the prolonged heat in an expressive manner. Physical changes that drought inflicts on landscape are examined through expressive mark making and colour as well as my personal feelings of grief that arose during this time. Spent vegetation is now an inevitable feature of our landscape and as the climate continues to change, I seek ways within my visual language to depict what drought leaves behind.
