Get back to basics in this informative colour mixing workshop where you will learn how to create beautiful greys and mixed blacks with a limited range of pigments. As well as making colour mixing discoveries, we will create a small painting of natural forms that explores colour relationships, composition and negative space.

Colour is an essential and joyful part of my practice as a visual artist, I will share colour mixing tips and strategies to help you make the most of a limited number of pigments and create a large range of greys and beautiful mixed blacks. We will be making some colour charts but you are free to record your colour mixing discoveries your way, whether this is as a formal chart or as a wild circle with annotations.
Greys or neutrals are quiet and soft and serve to make the bright colours sing. We will be exploring this colour relationships by creating a small painting with our mixed colours. The painting will be based on simple natural forms and negative space allowing us to concentrate on colour without getting bogged down in the detail. Suitable for both beginners and experienced painters. All materials provided but please bring your own palette knife and brushes.
