2019
This Plein Air painting was started as the sun was setting and completed 35 minutes later at dusk in the fading light. Location is Bungalbin Hill in the Helena and Aurora ranges. At sundown there are a few fleeting moments when tree and ground are lit up in the most startling light which heightens and exaggerates the colours of the outback. Painting furiously fast I embraced high key colour and threw caution to the wind. Although this painting looks somewhat unfinished I know that if I try to improve it the spontaneous quality will be lost.
