The open Wandoo woodlands east of Perth mark the transition from the wetter Jarrah, Marri forests to the dryer inland area. When driving through the Wheatbelt it is sobering to think that much of this vast area was once covered with majestic trees such as Wandoo. Each year I return to the Wheatbelt to plant trees through community revegetation programs in the hope that one day tall trees will grow again. Wandoo is endemic to South Western Australia and one of my favourite eucalypts.
