The Story behind this painting
I spent a few days at Mount Gibson Reserve in July 2019. Walking to the top of the low ranges provided expansive views across to Lake Moore open woodlands. Much of the land is scrub but small pockets of woodland with majestic gums rise out of the bright earth on pale trunks, visible from quite a distance. I painted the view in my sketchbook for reference and the next day set out on foot to explore the woodlands.
