Part of a series of paintings in the upcoming Elemental exhibition inspired by the inlets and the ocean of Fitzgerald River National Park, WA. The briny waters of the Hamersley Inlet give way to the turquoise waters of the ocean. Although you can't see the ocean when upstream in the inlet, its presence can be felt in the smells and sounds that are carried on the wind. When exploring the inlet, I was always aware of the ocean pounding away behind the sand hills a mere 600 metres away. In this painting I have painted both.
