The Pingerup Plains emerge out of the fringes of the Jarrah/Marri forest of the south west marking the transition to swampy coastal plain. One morning on the Bibbulmun track the plains appeared as a golden expanse. The sun, low in the sky, bathed the land in a yellow glow, diffusing the forms of scattered trees on the horizon. I was struck by the open savanna like landscape and how my feelings shift when moving from forest to plain.
