The story behind this painting.
I spend a lot of time in the cooler months walking in the mixed Jarah/Marri forests in the hills east of Perth. They are fragmented places, scarred by mining, farming, logging and fire. Many of these forests are a shadow of their former selves yet they endure and are still beautiful. After a fire some scarred trees will in time come back to life and orange pea flowers often run riot in the undergrowth. Painted from memory.
